Reflections II is a collection of keyboard music that spans nearly two centuries, from the Baroque era to the early twentieth century. It includes familiar names such as Bach and Haydn alongside lesser known composers such as MacDowell, Kollmann, and Bečvařovský.
Most of the pieces are played as written. Some are variations, from small flourishes to newly added sections, and two Fantasia arrangements depart significantly from the originals. Why? In times long past, many performers of Classical music were skilled improvisers, and the album tips its hat to that tradition.
The album was recorded at Audio for the Arts Studio in Madison and at BH Arts Studio in Sun Prairie, with piano recording engineering by Buzz Kemper and mastering by Audrey Martinovich.
Twenty short tracks make the album easy to dip into. It works for studying, reading, or a quiet dinner at home.
